Duration of the project
8 months
Funding partner
Project funded by UNICEF, implemented in partnership with the Italian NGO MOVIMONDO
Description
The project aims at creating the necessary resources in the local population that will help improving the psychological as well as physical well being of children, adolescents and their families, following the experience of war.
Towards that view, social workers will be trained in order to conduct psychosocial activities in 6 villages in the South and 6 villages in the Bekaa. They will be in charge of conducting awareness raising sessions to spread information amongst parents, teachers, adolescents, community members and health professionals on psychophysical and social health issues. They will also have to identify in those areas a network of counselling centres where to refer cases in need of psychological treatment, on a short or long-term basis.
This project will directly beneficiate to 24 community workers and 2 specialised workers, 240 school teachers and parents, 260 adolescents as well as 360 community members and health professionals. Through a peer to peer approach, the project aims to target broadly the whole communities living in the Bekaa Valley and Southern areas, representing 400 000 people.
