Vocational Training and Educational Opportunities

Amel follows a strategy aimed at ensuring access to self-improvement skills for target groups. Since its start in 1990, Amel has been making a concrete difference in the life of men, women and youth from disadvantaged areas: Bekaa, the South and Beirut 's suburbs.

The main challenge of the vocational training programs is to ensure a link between the local labor market and the training sessions provided at Amel's centers in order to increase the beneficiaries' chances to integrate the job market after the completion of their training. Consequently, Amel has contracted an agreement with the Byblos Institute through which the latter provides its technical expertise and know-how to improve the level and quality of Amel's vocational trainings. This partnership allows beneficiaries to obtain a diploma granted jointly by Amel and the Byblos Institute after passing their final exams, thus making the professional integration of beneficiaries easier.

The main vocational training programs provided by the association are:

  • Nursing
  • Hair dressing
  • Languages
  • Literacy
  • Computer literacy

Other sessions are optional and depend on the needs expressed by local populations.

The beneficiaries of Amel's nursing sessions can now also benefit from higher chances of professional integration since their diploma has been recently recognized officially by the National Office for Employment (Ministry of Labor).
