The project is being implemented in both Ain el Remmaneh and Chiah Amel Community centers. Both regions have been at the epicenter of Lebanon’s sectarian violence ; Ain el-Remmaneh is the site of the spark that first ignited the 1975 civil war and both areas have been flashpoints for conflict and extremism ever since. The objective of the project is to rebuild trust and understanding among young youth in Chiyah and Ain el-Remmaneh through community-based dialogue and joint activities that respond to economic and social needs. The activities proposed will be implemented for 1 year starting from 1st of March; these activities are progressive and cumulative. All activities will be paired with dialogue led by local 5 priests and 5 imams. Skilled inter-faith facilitators from the University of saint Joseph will develop the curriculum for the entire program and will help guide and mentor local religious leaders and youth participants. Amel association will recruit and train 100 young people from both areas whom will form 5 inter-community teams of 20 YP who will participate in all subsequent activities together. Additionally, special efforts will be made to ensure the participation of women and girls in all activities.
