ECHAAV Project
Empowering Children and Adolescents to fight against Violence in Lebanon

Funding partner: Save the children Sweden

Duration of the project: 8 months (with 1 month of preparation) followed by 2 months' extension

Starting date: March 2008

This project aimed at contributing in ending violence against children in Lebanon.

A core group of children and adolescents at risk were identified through specific activities such as recreational activities or drama. Focus groups, art therapy, and individual counseling were conducted by a psychologist towards this core group.

Parents were involved through all phases of the project through different gathering events, outings and working groups organized by the centers.

Lastly, a group of Youth Leaders were trained to conduct peer to peer sensitization in schools. Sustainability of the project was ensured through advanced training of Amel medical staff on detection and referral of the cases of violence in the home.

This project  benefited 228 children and 70 families.
