Euromed Youth program

Funding partner: European Commission

Starting date: October 2003

Amel Association started to participate in the Euromed Youth program in October 2003 by participating in a partnership building seminar in Greece.

The different seminars, meetings and Youth exchanges organized in the framework of the Euromed program represent a wonderful chance for the European and Middle-Eastern youth to meet and discover foreign countries and their culture, through numerous activities and introduction to their traditions and specialties.

In 2008, Amel participated in one youth exchange in Finland and one seminar in Norway.

From the 6th to the 13th of December, Amel Association organized a youth exchange program entitled "Let's meet our  cultures" in partnership with Euromed, the European Commission ,and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The program  brought together 35 young participants (between 18 and 25 years old) coming from Lebanon, Greece, Finland and Palestine.

The main objective of the youth exchange was to promote mutual understanding and tolerance between the different participants.

To initiate the week, an opening ceremony was organized in the presence of Dr. Kamel Mohanna ,the President of Amel Association, the 1st counselor of the Greek Embassy and Miss Kawn Touma from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

During the week, four workshops took place in order to teach other participants about artistic items that reflects part of  the culture of the country. A small exposition was organized to exhibit the items produced during the workshops. In order  to support the participants in building a different and positive perception of Lebanon, two outings were organized to historical and cultural sites. A conference was also organized in the American University of Beirut with some students who are particularly interested in humanitarian issues.

Amel association  was represented by 3 youth representatives at Family Awareness and Development conference that was held in Kuwait. The purpose of the event was Awareness provided to the participating organizations (international and local) concerning the importance and the reasons of family development as well as orientations for a better society.

Amel association was also represented in a conference named "local authorities and NGOs and their role in the Mediterranean euro cooperation on sectors youth, immigration and sustainable development"   held in Morocco , which aimed at pointing social and economic issues in the Mediterranean countries (immigration, sustainable development,…) and  to find solutions with the participation of the youth sector.
