Duration:

January 2007 to January 2008

Description

The project aimed at creating the necessary resources in the local population to contribute in improving the psychological as well as physical well being of children, adolescents and their families, following the experience of war.

Towards that view, social workers were trained on an intensive basis in order to conduct psychosocial activities in 6 villages in the South and 6 villages in the Bekaa. They were in charge of conducting awareness-raising sessions to spread information amongst parents, teachers, adolescents, community members and health professionals on psychophysical and social health issues. They also identified in these areas a network of counseling centers where to refer cases in need of psychological treatment, on a short or long-term basis.

This project directly benefited to 24 community workers and 2 specialized social workers, 240 school teachers and parents, 260 adolescents as well as 360 community members and health professionals.
